A Taste of Naples: A Virtual Tour and Tasting with Culinary Backstreets

  • online 6-7pm ET zoom link will be emailed day of the event (map)

While it may not be possible to travel abroad these days, we offer an alternative solution: join MOFAD and internationally acclaimed global food tour company Culinary Backstreets for an online guided tour of Naples’ neighborhoods, bite by bite.

Join Amedeo Colella, Culinary Backstreets’ Naples Bureau Chief, for a virtual guided tour of some of Naples’ most intriguing neighborhoods and their classic food shops. As Amedeo walks us through some of his favorite places, we’ll virtually meet some of the artisans upholding classic Neapolitan traditions and learn about the fascinating history of Naples’ neighborhood culinary culture and how it’s faring during these difficult times.

*Please note this event is from 6-7pm EST and will be held over zoom.

AMEDEO COLELLA

After a 25-year career in communications, Amedeo finally succumbed to his true calling, dedicating his life to the study of a phenomenon that he calls “the Neapolitan way of living.” The city’s unique cuisine, music, literature and local dialect are all a part of his ongoing research and the subject of lectures he gives at a local university. He is the author of several books about Naples, including Mangia Napoli, the definitive guide to eating in Naples and operates a publishing house called Cultura Nova. His passion for Naples is best experienced walking with him in the backstreets, where he knows everyone by name and, most importantly, where to find the very best bites of the city.

CULINARY BACKSTREETS

Culinary Backstreets covers the neighborhood food scene and offers small group food tours in some fourteen cities around the world. Looking beyond what’s on the plate, Culinary Backstreets explores the deeper issues at play in the places it works in and how they shape those cities’ culinary culture.
